  • The code is on github here, and a manual download is here.
  • Upgrade command: sudo /opt/cartulary/bin/upgrade.sh

  • **Please note that there was an update to the upgrade.sh script in the v0.6.11 release, so unfortunately you may need to run the upgrade command multiple times until you get no script errors if you are coming from a release version prior to v0.6.11. Possibly 3 or 4 times. I know this is messy and apologize for that. If you have any trouble please post to the Freedom Controller/SOPML google group linked at the bottom.
  • Come on let me give your mind a ride...
  • The primary focus of this release is on editor improvement and Ubuntu 18 LTS support.
  • Bug Fixes (the notable ones)
    • 2 critical bugs in the INSTALL script that kept new installs from working out of the gate. :-(
    • a bug with the newuser.opml sub url that was blocking a newly created user from getting through activation
  • Improvement: Ubuntu 18 LTS install support
    • This was hard.
    • So much has changed with PHP the last couple of years. Especially with the packaging of php7.2. Lots of deprecations and such to deal with.
    • Eventually, to keep from going through the code with a fine toothed comb, I just punted and dropped back to the 7.0 repository.
    • There were other things more important in this release, so it needed to get out the door.
    • A future release will be focused on php 7.2 compatibility.
    • I like to support all of the currently supported LTS releases. So once Ubuntu 14 drops off, this will be a bit easier.
  • Improvement: Deep linking into published outlines
    • Now, if you click a node in an html outline it will update the url with a hash for that location
    • You can then send that URL to someone and it will take them straight to that node
    • This is probably still buggy since there is a lot going on in these crazy outlines like tabs and such
    • Give me feedback.
  • New Feature: Editor templating
    • Been working with Adam on this one to create a sort of templating "language" to make generating repeatable (like shownotes, blog posts, etc) outlines easier.
    • You use placeholders (variables) in this fashion: [[$name]modifier]
    • So, for example you could put [[$Episode Number]] in your template, and when you generate an outline from it, it will be replaced with the number you give it.
    • And you can use a modifier like [[$Episode Number]++] to refer to your original value plus one.
    • For image uploading, you can use a template like [[$Image Url]jpg128] and your image (referred to by [[$Image Url]]) will be auto-resized to 128x128px;
    • All template variable values are saved each time you generate, so that next time the value boxes are pre-filled.
    • The variable names are all free form, so you can use any text you want.
    • You can save any outline as a template using the Save -> Save as Template menu command.
    • A video demo of how this works:
  • New Feature: Importing articles into an outline from the editor
    • You can now import archived articles into the editor from within the editor.
    • Look for the little bookmark icon on the editor toolbar
    • On the bottom left of the import dialog is a date range selector dropdown
    • It remembers when your last import was so you can choose "since last import" to sort of keep your place when building shownotes with article content
    • Combined with templating, this is powerful stuff. :-)
  • If there are any bugs please post them here in the comments, or in the Freedom Controller google group.
